“I am a little bit biased because I studied with Leo in college. I already enjoyed his personality and was a fan of his artwork long before seeing him with a needle in his hand. However, I saw a side of him that I didn't see during my illustration class with him. Leo was mostly aloof when it came to interacting with everyone in the classroom. He was very concentrated on his art. I was lucky enough to catch his attention to form the impression of him that I did during college. Apart from the on point procedures and protocols necessary to prep a tattoo station, he had excellent bedside manners. You would normally use that to describe a doctor, but you see, I am a big baby. I hate needles. I hate shots and getting my blood drawn. Leo knew this. I made it very well known prior to getting my tattoos and I was getting them done on the inside of my wrists. He gave me a stress ball in one hand and tattooed the other wrist. He kept me lost in conversation, asking me about the different things I've been up to since college, what things I like to cook. This is all with a deep and soothing voice that made me feel reassured and in a very safe space. The next time I have a tattoo on my mind, I'm coming back to Leo.”
