Order is by a Bayesian-adjusted rating: each shop's Google rating is pulled toward the directory average in proportion to how few reviews back it, so a 5.0 from six reviews does not outrank a 4.9 from eight hundred. The stars shown are the raw Google rating and review count.

What locals say about Madison tattoo shops
Pulled from Google reviews of the top-rated shops in Madison.
“I got a tattoo done today (5/20/25) by Britt. I am absolutely in LOVE with it. He was perfect- Took his time with my tattoo, was super friendly, and overall showed great care for what I wanted. I would highly recommend this location for anyone wanting a tattoo. (Also got to talk to the piercer- Not sure her name, but she’s new for Mondays and Tuesdays, and she was SO kind!!! I get my piercings done from this place as well and have never had any issues with any of them.)”
“Scooby is the best of the best. After fighting with my teen, I finally agreed to a belly piercing for her b-day. Scooby thoroughly explained every step before the process and made sure we understood aftercare instructions. I felt assured my child was in good hands. She didn’t even feel anything. The vibe was amazing because we met super cool people while waiting for our appointment. Archangel is 10/10.”
