“I got my very first tattoo yesterday (Saturday 07/26/2025) at Black Coffin Tattoo. My overall experience was first class. I checked out several other places, but the moment I walked through the door at Black Coffin I knew that this was the place where I wanted to get my first tattoo. I was greeted by staff who were professional, attentive, and enthusiastic about me getting my first tattoo. My tattoo artist Michelle (@nashxthrash.tattoos) was AMAZING. From initial consult, to answering my questions, to being flexible with scheduling, to design, to applying the tattoo itself, Michelle’s attention to detail and customer service exceeded my expectations. I definitely recommend Black Coffin and Michelle if you’re considering getting any tattoo work done and I plan on going back there for my next tattoo.”

“*** Update 8/31/24 *** I went back to the shop yesterday to get a coverup on my previous shared tattoo done and Dang did an absolute amazing job! I gave him ideas of what I wanted and he put everything into action. His art idea was amazing that I had no complaints about. This was his own drawing and doing. I would totally recommend families and friends to come here. You can still see some of the old art but majority of it was covered up. I’m impressed. Thanks Dang, to another wonderful art on my body. Update! This is now my favorite go to spot! I’ve been here multiple times. I’ve gotten my nose, lip, cartilage and belly pierced here by Bonnie. She’s amazing! Very knowledgeable and I’ve always appreciated her opinions. I’ve also gotten my tattoos done here too by the one and only Dang. His art is amazing. His attention to detail is everything. “***Let me preface this review by stating that I have been to ~10 different tattoo shops in my lifetime. Grand Ave Tattoo happened to be the closest option for my sister and I as we considered places to do walk-ins for simple matching mushroom tattoos. We went into Grand Ave Tattoo where we were immediately immersed in not only fun music, chill vibes, but also the kindest staff I’ve ever encountered in a shop. Gray whipped up a design for us within minutes of hearing our concept, and even tailored each piece to the individual styles my sister and I both have in our other work on our bodies. As we waited mere minutes to be ready to be tattooed, we chatted with every artist in the shop and it felt like we were amongst friends we’d known for years. Gray has one of the lightest yet solid hands I’ve ever sat for. They did a part of my ditch and I didn’t even want to cry. It was so fast, I almost didn’t want to get out of the chair because we were in the middle of a great conversation and I wanted to hang out longer. With great aftercare advice, both my and my sister’s lil’ mushroom pieces by Gray healed faster than any other piece I have on my body. I couldn’t believe how lucky we were to be blessed by the impromptu tattoo idea gods and be met with the amazingness of Gray. The eclectic styles of all the artists are featured in floor-to-ceiling examples, and I found like fifteen additional things I want to go back for. I left the shop already moving money in my bank account to save up for my next appointments. This was the most comfortable, fun, and easy tattoo experience I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to go back!”
