Order is by a Bayesian-adjusted rating: each shop's Google rating is pulled toward the directory average in proportion to how few reviews back it, so a 5.0 from six reviews does not outrank a 4.9 from eight hundred. The stars shown are the raw Google rating and review count.

Pulled from Google reviews of the top-rated shops in Rochester.

“Josh Brown did my tattoo, I sent him what I thought I wanted and he made it SOOOO much better! I am so happy with my Tattoo and my experience. He was professional and made me feel comfortable and he's great to talk to. I see why he's award winning, he's worth every penny! Absolutely will be going back!”
Shannon Murphy on Sacred Heart Studios
“Great experience from appointment scheduling to finished tattoo! Booked it on short notice on a Monday but they were more than happy to squeeze us in! (Four of the same tattoos) First time for all of getting tattoos and the team made the experience quick and painless. Huge shout out to the artists, Sam and Joshua! Very happy with the outcome!”
