What Locals Say About Fort Collins Tattoo Shops

Ash White on Rocksteady Tattoo

3rd time at Rocksteady. My original artist was Kenny, he has since moved out of state. Kenny introduced me to the other artists to provide me a warm handoff to continue to feel comfortable at Rocksteady tattoo. Rayni blew it out of the water today with this piece. She kept it artistic and also matched what I was wanting. She was very good with communication for me to maintain trust and involvement in my tattoo experience. Rayni had an apprentice Paige who was very attentive in assisting Rayni throughout my tattoo. Seeing the mentorship throughout my tattoo making sure proper handling with set up was completed correctly to maintain a clean sanitary work space for both the artist and myself. As a first responder I know blood born pathogens procedures and Rayni was spot on. Seeing Paige take it seriously and answer all of Rayni’s questions/ quizzes was extraordinary. Natalia and Robb were awesome & worked as a team and got multiple matching tattoo clients tattooed and lots of happy faces when completed. The piercing walk ins were very steady. I was shocked to see the efficiency and flow between the two piercers and was very impressed at their education provided to the clients! This is why I come to Rocksteady! URGENT! I had one concern during my visit. There was a very petite male artist with a big man bun and a skeleton jaw tattooed in his face. He must be a guest artist cause he was so disorganized and nothing like the rest of the team at Rocksteady. I’m pretty sure he said his name was Drew. I was positioned where my main point of view was Drew’s chair. The client he was tattooing was there before me actively being tattooed. I watched Drew take gloves off and put gloves on multiple times but he was snapping the gloves off which was concerning as this is not the proper way to de glove. I witnessed Drew rummage thru his personal back pack, grabbed ink bottles or supplies with dirty gloves. His work space was dirty and disorganized, constantly taking breaks hitting his vape & rummage thru his bag, It made me uncomfortable with the lack of hygiene used through his process and numerous cross contaminations occurring. At one point a friend of his came and he left with his black pack pack leaving his client in the chair. Another time his client requested to use Ty bathroom and he said can you wait I’m working on this. 😳 As time passed and I had my outline and all my black shading completed we took a quick restroom break. Drew’s client asked to see my progress on my tattoo & I politely returned the interest to her tattoo In Progress. I was very shocked. The tattoo was a simple beautiful collage of flowers (5-6 flowers under 2-3 inches in width). I was shocked because she had been there longer than me (with her friend mind you to get matching tattoos) I’d say it was less than 1/4 completed. Jump forward an hour & I stood up to take a quick break, again Drew’s clients asked to see my progress. I had all my blue done at this point. Yes the flowers were pretty but still less than half was done. At this point I felt like something was wrong I didn’t see the client struggling at all thru the tattoo or asking to take breaks. The friend waiting her turn was growing increasingly annoyed, looking at the time and her sharing wide eyed faces with her friend being tattooed. When I left completed and showed them the finished progress, Drew had just gotten to the half way mark. Now I appreciate attention to detail and polite conversation, which was my initial assumption. If I would have been this client I would have walked out mid tattoo infuriated After the first cross contamination and never returned. I take it extremely serious having my safety be prioritized during my tattoo. Additionally it’s extremely important for the artist to be protected from the bodily fluids. I really hope he is not a guest artist much longer. I’d highly recommend the home team at RockSteady tattoo! The shop is great & I have been very happy with all my experiences and art I’ve received. Whoever is in charge please have your guest artist move on!

BEYOND AMAZING! I have been coming to Tribal Rites for over a year for all piercings/jewelry needs. Everyone is fabulous. 😊 Lauren was my very first piercer and made for a fantastic experience that time and many times after. Ashley pierced me again today, and she is just a delight. Makes my heart smile every time I walk in because I know I’ll be greeted with awesome service by Julia and be pierced by the best of the best. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Madison Price on Solana Tattoo Company

Bis was the most amazing piercer I've ever had! Out of my 8 piercings, I felt the most comfortable, and cared for with my most recent eyebrow piercing. I will 100% be back for more piercings from Bis, she is amazing. My friend also got a tattoo from Matt and she can't stop raving about how much she loves it. He drew her design the exact way she wanted it, talked to her throughout the tattoo to distract her, and was very respectful and professional. We went yesterday and my friend already wants to go back for another tattoo from Matt!
