Order is by a Bayesian-adjusted rating: each shop's Google rating is pulled toward the directory average in proportion to how few reviews back it, so a 5.0 from six reviews does not outrank a 4.9 from eight hundred. The stars shown are the raw Google rating and review count.

What locals say about Newport News tattoo shops
Pulled from Google reviews of the top-rated shops in Newport News.
“Let’s start by saying that Moe will be the only person I trust and want as a tattoo artist. He was extremely dedicated in helping me bring my very first tattoo idea to life. With that being said, I was concerned and nervous about how much pain I was going to experience during it. Moe was very reassuring about being in minimal pain and communicating with him if I was experiencing any. I didn’t feel anything!! He was very gentle, light handed, very detailed oriented, and professional. I couldn’t be more impressed with the results of my tattoo! It’s so beautiful and stunning with so much detail and thought behind it. Thank you Moe!”
“Awkward photo, but it'll do. I went to ACT because after following Lucy on IG for a few years I decided to bite the bullet. I was a fumbling mess the first time I met her. (Thanks to anxiety I'll randomly relive those moments time to time and have second hand embarrassment) She talked me through it and we picked a few pieces and started working on my sleeve. I love going there, it's clean, comfy, the couch...I could sleep on that couch. But back to the meat of the review. Lucy is light handed and packs the color in. I've been told for YEARS color wouldn't show up on me properly. Lucy showed me otherwise, we finished my right sleeve in April 2023 and the yellow is still as bright as it was the day I left the shop. Immaculate. Also tip y'all artists.”
“I had my nostril pierced by Kas and couldn’t be happier with the experience! From the moment I walked in, the environment felt welcoming, clean, and comfortable. Kas explained everything clearly, made sure I felt at ease, and did an amazing job with the piercing itself! it was quick, precise, and barely painful. The jewelry looks great, the aftercare was explained thoroughly, and the prices were very fair. I’d definitely recommend Kas to anyone looking for a professional, friendly, and skilled piercer!”
