Order is by a Bayesian-adjusted rating: each shop's Google rating is pulled toward the directory average in proportion to how few reviews back it, so a 5.0 from six reviews does not outrank a 4.9 from eight hundred. The stars shown are the raw Google rating and review count.

Field notes

What locals say about Harper Woods tattoo shops

Pulled from Google reviews of the top-rated shops in Harper Woods.

“Came in to get my son’s ear pierced. Communication was great from the beginning. Studio was clean, organized and inviting. Price was way lower than other places I called and included starter jewelry. He was knowledgeable and encouraging and put any worries my son had to rest. Definitely would recommend and will be coming back for more piercings and tattoos. Came back for a second visit for myself. Shop and owner are still a cool vibe. I wanted to get a simple remembrance piece for my Uncle who passed. Very quick, pain was minimal and work is very clean. More plans to come back for other work”
