Order is by a Bayesian-adjusted rating: each shop's Google rating is pulled toward the directory average in proportion to how few reviews back it, so a 5.0 from six reviews does not outrank a 4.9 from eight hundred. The stars shown are the raw Google rating and review count.

What locals say about Chicago tattoo shops
Pulled from Google reviews of the top-rated shops in Chicago.
“Just had my first ever tattoo done here and working with Lexi was incredible! She was very communicative before, during and after the booking. She was super welcoming and receptive to my needs, and made the experience seamless. The design and detail is exactly what I was looking for and can’t wait to get more tattoos done with her in the future! Thanks Lexi!”
“Kalm was my artist, he was so great and made sure I was comfortable and confident throughout the process. I got a script tattoo on my lower stomach and everything went smoothly. He checked up on me multiple times and reassured me that everything about the process was in my hands and there was no issue with changing the stencil, taking breaks, needing water, etc. My friend and I came here for tattoos and we both had a great time, great atmosphere, great people, couldn’t recommend enough.”
“Eli Ramos is great. While normally does black and grey work, he did beautiful color work for my cousin and me. Pleasant, easy to work with, straight forward, responsive and gave us exactly what we wanted. The shop is VERY clean and has a chill vibe and everyone there was friendly and didn't make us milkbread's feel lame about our matching tattoos! The tattoo didn't end up in the spot I wanted it to, but it wasn't completely wrong. Check out Eli's work on the 'Gram- it's beautiful!”
