Order is by a Bayesian-adjusted rating: each shop's Google rating is pulled toward the directory average in proportion to how few reviews back it, so a 5.0 from six reviews does not outrank a 4.9 from eight hundred. The stars shown are the raw Google rating and review count.

What locals say about Boise tattoo shops
Pulled from Google reviews of the top-rated shops in Boise.
“I've gotten 3 of my piercings here and i love each one of them. Jess did a medusa for me and i absolutely love it, i loved her vibe and everything. She was having trouble getting the ball on, i thought she got it but it doesn't took on all the way. It's possible she just squeezed the bar to make it stay. As long as it's staying i'm not complaining. I get so excited walking in here.”
“I won a giveaway to receive a free 1-hour session with Gage, and the experience was great! He took all of my ideas and concept sketch and created a beautiful tattoo that was exactly what I was hoping for!! When discussing the sketch, he offered complimentary beverages and snacks. He did an amazing job tattooing me, was very professional and conversational. The space is very clean and everyone there is very friendly and fun to interact with. My fine-line tattoo is amazing and very detailed, and I will definitely be going back! Highly recommend Gage Mansfield and highly recommend Ink Spa!”
“I had a 6 year old daith piercing that was a bent closed heart so I couldn't remove it myself and wanted to switch to a piece of jewelry that I could get out and in myself. I was extremely nervous because I don't have a lot of piercings since they kind of freak me out. John was extremely patient even though I was a bit spastic (how I act when I get nervous), and even showed my husband how to change out the new piece too incase I became too nervous in the future to do it myself. It was completely painless, quick, and easy. Thank you, John!”
