Neighborhood is a great spot. The shop is clean, calm, and welcoming. I found it a comfortable place to get a tattoo. I specifically got my tattoo with Ian Richards and I cannot say enough good things about him. He took my inspiration drawings and drew what I asked for while adding his own personal style. He worked with me through last minute details, taking my input seriously, offering opinions when asked but never pushing. If you ever need a needle break - he will gladly give it to you, just ask. Most of all, he was genuinely excited about the tattoo. It looks GREAT. I'd recommend him for anything, but especially if you're getting an animal I'd really consider Ian. He loves animals and does a great job on them, including mine. However, vibes of shop are overall 10/10 so if you're considering another artist I'd still recommend.
You my girl Cody Rose @talkcutetome on Instagram is the absolute best manga tattoo artist in the twin cities. I have followed her from other shops because she does such good work. Fun person to talk to and does very good detailed work. If you are getting something so permanent, do your research and choose an artist you trust. I have chatted with a few of the artists as there and all very nice. They seem to all set very reasonable prices and communicate well. They all take their craft seriously and all their work looks good. 10/10 spot.
Every time I've been here I've worked with Cody, he did my first tattoos at a different place, and when he moved i chose to keep working with him as my artist without hesitation. Cody is incredibly skilled, creative, and thoughtful when it comes to working with both vague ideas, or bringing more detailed concept art to life. They have a fantastic grasp of color, shadow, and style which consistently results in absolutely gorgeous pieces if you let him cook. I've gotten 5 tattoos from Cody currently, with another in-progress, 3 of which are fairly large scale, all in stunning color. Cody is very approachable for people with no prior experience with tattoos and he takes care to ensure cleanliness and client comfort and satisfaction, I have *never* had any issues with healing or complaints about the quality of Cody's work, they're very capable and experienced and i cannot give a stronger recommendation. If i could give more than 5 stars i would. I highly recommend stopping by Neighborhood Tattoo to see Cody for your next tattoo idea, bonus points if you bring him something monstrous, gross or creepy! :D
The shop is super clean, has a lot of natural light, and the artists are so awesome. I worked with Cody and she brought my dream to life. She answered all my "silly questions" and I felt really comfortable with all the details. She made sure the art fit perfectly on my leg, even had to print two stencils because after the first one she decided to resize and now it is perfect! I drove over 3 hours to get my tattoo and it was so worth it. It is a pretty "open concept" shop, so wear clothes you're comfortable in and gives access to the area you want tattooed.
Audra did such a great job with completing my sleeve! Two different artists in the past had started it which left a confusing stopping point and I had no idea how to continue and make it flow. I had a hard time portraying what I wanted but, I believe due to her vast experience, she was able to quickly come up with a game plan and it all ended up meshing perfectly. I couldn't be happier! Also, the shop as a whole is full of great people and it's an incredibly chill environment. I highly recommend Audra, and also the shop in general. I've attached some pictures but they honestly don't do a justice on how amazing the outcome was! Thank you!
