I’ve known Roy for a while now and have been wanting to get tatted for years. That day finally happened and I’m so happy and satisfied with my tattoo. He cares about his clients and his work. He’s very easy to talk to and my whole experience was a 10/10. I went with my mom and we got matching ones, we definitely plan on going back to him for more.

I had an amazing experience! The shop itself is super clean, welcoming, and has a relaxed vibe. Roy was my artist, and I can’t recommend him enough. He took the time to really listen to what I wanted, offered helpful suggestions, and made sure the design was exactly right before starting. The tattoo came out better than I imagined!! If you’re looking for a talented artist who genuinely cares about his craft and his clients, Roy is the one. I’ll definitely be back for my next onee:))

Best tattoo studio in Austin hands down. I spent over 50+ hours when I moved here intensely looking through every tattoo artist/studio and their work(OCD tendencies) because I wanted a very detailed black and grey tattoo piece for my first tattoo. I have never gone out of my way to write a google review for anything but for this I had to make an exception. After extensive research, I discovered Johny and his work is absolutely INSANE. I don’t know how he has not gone viral yet but this guy’s art is flawless. I am talking prodigy-level work when it comes to the attention to detail and extreme focus he has when you're explaining the piece you want. Mind you I was getting my first tattoo at 29 years and was nervous as I myself am extremely detail oriented and wanted my tattoo to be perfect. He first did the tattoo I asked for and it was exactly how I pictured. I decided to move forward with the rest of the tattoos I always wanted and he has since done blackwork, fine-line(including EXTREME fine-line finger tattoos that somehow have still not faded months later), and a bunch more sick pieces. He also does unbelievable realism, lettering, and honestly anything you can imagine he can create and it will be immaculate. He will also spend as long as you need talking you through the piece you want to make sure he knows exactly what you want and will additionally show you how it will look by creating mockup stencils on the spot at different angles and offer guidance if you're unfamiliar with tattoos even if it means scaling back(not like some other artists i’ve heard of who will just go with it for the $) but he genuinely wants to make sure YOU like it and it looks how you envisioned it. For instance I wanted a vertical piece on the backside of my forearm that looked good with the stencil when I held my arm up from my POV but I didn't realize until he showed me what it looked like when I rested my arm to my side standing that it would be completely contorted and he ended up finding the perfect angle and made it work amazingly. He is also hilarious and genuinely a super funny and kind person who is very adaptable and always makes sure you're comfortable throughout the session. The price for each tattoo is always within reason(also WAY worth it) and I’ve known people that fly out to insta famous tattoo artists and pay double for this kind of quality. The studio is relatively new and seems to be a collection of all the best tattoo artists in the city in one space. It’s a very comfortable and dope vibe with high ceilings and an insanely packed snack bar with a great variety of food and drinks. The bathroom is also super clean and the decor is awesome. The entire team is super friendly and extremely talented and I genuinely enjoy my tattoo sessions as it’s always good vibes in there and I know i’m getting the best service/quality tattoos possible. Seriously cannot recommend Johny and Black Crown Studio enough

Roy has been tattooing my leg since October 2022 (with the exception of a few) Each time I have had an idea of what I wanted as my next tattoo, Roy always locks in and executes it far beyond my wildest dreams. It takes a lot of patience to listen to the ideas I have and the colors I want and Roy just gets it. I always get stopped and get asked who does my leg work, I get so excited to talk about Roy's work. If you don't have any ideas of what you want, he has a great selection from his flashes. He also has this "get what you get" machine. Pricing is very reasonable for the work that he does. I cannot wait to see what other ideas we come up for my other leg! Yall are missing out if you're not getting tattooed by him. I am so glad Roy has found a home at Black Crown Studios. Not only do tattoos make you look cooler, but it's cheaper therapy. Roy will let you vent about all your problems and you leave feeling like a million bucks. Not only is this the coolest shop I have been to, but it is my favorite shop. They are very neat and the friendliest. They look like some of the toughest, mean guys, but everyone at the shop has always been very inviting and nice! They'll treat you like family! If you needed a sign to get tattooed, this is it! The pictures do not do the work justice, but trust me, they are fireeee!

all of my experiences at this tattoo studio have been 10 out of 10. They’re so welcoming. It is also extremely clean. They offer an entire snack bar and drinks for when you’re in a session! All of the artists are so sweet and talented. Roy is amazing and has done my entire back piece. As a woman it is never easy finding an artist that does not only amazing work, but makes you feel comfortable and safe. Roy has always exceeded my expectations. I will not be going anywhere else from now on! Can’t recommend enough!
