Village Tattoo NYC

I had a wonderful experience at Village Tattoo. The gentleman at the front desk was so personable and welcoming—he immediately put me at ease and made me feel comfortable about moving forward with my piercing. A big thank-you to him for creating such a positive first impression. Dez was my artist, and he was gentle, professional, and made the process quick and comfortable. I’m very happy with my new piercing and highly recommend Village Tattoo to anyone considering one.

Piercer MOOSHU was rude from the get go, cussing at me, ordering me around. When I lied down for the piercing he told me “don’t do anything weird”. This felt honestly homophobic. Rushed me right out of there: I surely won’t return. The piercing turned out well but he made the experience very anxiety inducing.

Went in to get a naval piercing, my piercer was Dez. Unfortunately my belly button was pierced pretty crooked which was upsetting considering how anxious I was to get it in the first place. No one told me it was crooked when the piercing was done. You could clearly see the dot he drew on to mark where it should go, and how far off the piercing was from that dot. I went back into the shop a couple days after and talked with Yolanda who is really sweet and knowledgeable, and she offered to re- pierce it for me so that it would be straight( I declined as I am prone to fainting and going through that once was enough). But it was reassuring to talk to her. Overall the people in the shop took care of me afterwards because I almost fainted but I am disappointed that the piercing is noticeably crooked.

I’ve since moved away from NYC but I got 12 piercing and a tattoo here and they’ve all turned out beautifully. Highly recommend.

The people that work there are great but the owner is THE WORST. I’ve spent 10k at village tattoo in the last 4 years. Over 20 tattoos and over 12 piercings. I have one piercing that has fallen out five times after piercing and I only buy gold. I went in to get it fixed after paying for 5 gold earrings and the owner SCREAMED at me, told me I’m the problem and never to return. He also lied to me and told me my friend came back last time to apologize for me? When I went alone. It’s always crumby when good talent is gatekept by crumby management.

Dez was awesome to our group. As a bachelorette group of 6, we spontaneously walked in to get piercings. Dez and the other man at the front made great recommendations to us, and Dez was very kind, hygienic, and efficient.

Staff are super helpful and courteous. Went for a piercing change out. Will go back again when time permits.

Love my tattoo. We walked in as tourists and were taken straight away with no issues. Both tattoo artist and piercer were lovely - will definitely re-visit if I’m back in NYC - highly recommend. 🤍
