Daybreak Tattoo

Worked with Nick at the shop. Had met him at the Grand Rapids tattoo fest and seen some of his work. I thought his style was unique and so I reached out for this special Tolkien-esque tattoo. He was really great to work with and brought my art ideas into reality. Was really chill to talk to during the work as well. As an aside, I felt like Nick was worth driving from the Ann Arbor area (~1.5 hrs) to get this done. Love this tattoo very much and I'm happy with the choice to come to Daybreak. I also got to meet and see work from the other artists in the shop and I feel like this place has a tattoo style for everyone. The shop is very clean, and everyone has been great to chat with and very professional. I would recommend checking them out and sending an inquiry to the shop via email. Their shop assistant/receptionist/scheduler is awesome to work with. *Relevant personal experience - 7 prior tattoos of varying but similar size to this and ~ 40 total hours of actual work (getting inked)

If you enjoy high quality tattoos and good conversation, I recommend booking a session with Jessi Root! She was collaborative, gave good reasons for her recommendations, and got the work done in a timely manner.

Jimmy is great!

I cannot recommend Daybreak (and Nick!) enough. Great studio, very clean and very much a professional environment. This was my first large piece and Nick was great to work with throughout! I wanted a zombie Doberman (RE inspired) and he more than delivered. Everybody at the shop is just awesome to be around and I enjoyed my sessions despite the pain because of them.

From the moment I walked in the door to Daybreak, I felt safe and at ease. Getting a tattoo from Jimmy felt like having a conversation with an old friend; we were laughing and talking the entire time, an experience I’ve never had with another tattoo artist. Their playlist was bopping, their artistic skills were on point, and their stand up comedy-esque stories had me giggling and kicking my feet 😎 I sincerely appreciate Jimmy’s genuine ability to connect with people while pulling the cleanest lines and coordinating the sickest colors! Jimmy said a tattoo is more than just the end result — it’s the experience and what happens outside of the line work and coloring. I walked out of this tattoo appointment with a new appreciation and understanding of the art of tattooing thanks to Jimmy. I’ll be back!!
