Fatty's Tattoos & Piercings Silver Spring

I started going to Fatty’s because I followed an artist (Josh) that I had been working with at a previous shop. I really appreciate how Fatty’s is by appointment only, because I’ve always felt that if the artist has to step away to talk to a walk in or have a separate consultation while they are in the middle of your tattoo, then it takes them out of their zone and something may be missed or the inspiration may be lost. And at Fatty’s you don’t have that problem. They want the customer to have the best experience possible during their session. I can only speak on the experience that I have had with Josh, although I have met Fatty once and during my most recent session I had the pleasure of meeting Jacqi and both were super nice people. As I mentioned previously, I followed Josh from his previous shop. I like all styles of tattooing, but have always felt like the new school style fit me best. So if you feel the same, book an appointment with Josh. If you need proof of his work, I advise you to check out his portfolio (you won’t be disappointed)! On top of the great tattoo that you will inevitably have working with Josh, you should know that you’ll be working with a down to earth good guy! In a nutshell… just book an appointment at Fatty’s!!!

Went to Fattys Sunday 10/28 to get a replacement piece of jewelry for one of my snake bites. Business was listed as “open” on google and yelp. Got to the silver spring location and the door was locked. I looked in the window and saw a woman sitting behind the counter eating and talking to a coworker behind the wall. My wife called the phone number listed and the message said that they only do business by email. I knocked on the glass door and the woman looked up at me and went right back to laughing and talking with her friend, ignoring me completely. Not helping people or even bothering to respond to people who would like to give you money seems like a strange way to do business, but I guess it’s working for them. Drove up the street to Tattoo Paradise and was greeted by a very nice woman who said they were glad to help and the piercer, who was lovely, changed the jewelry.

Just got my first professional tattoos with Bluu. Fantastic experience. Genuinely cool dude and easy to work with. We were able to find a image and he reworked it on the spot and it came out great on skin. He gave me very fair pricing especially for multiple tattoos and a touch up on my back. Will definitely be going back for a lot more.

If you can’t get anyone on the phone at any time of business hours, that’s a red flag.

Paola is by far the best. She is the only person I will allow to poke a hole in me.

Bluu is amazing!!! I highly recommend him!! Amazingly talented, nonjudgemental, and a lot of great energy!!

Bluu was my artist. It was my first tattoo experience and he was very welcoming and friendly and helped me to feel at ease. Bluu totally understood my design idea and made helpful suggestions on the design, size and placement of the tattoo. Bluu was attentive and communicative during the entire session. He patiently listened to my concerns and took time for me to look at my design along the way to make sure we were on the same page. He was also extremely gentle. Bluu is very kind and personable and down to earth—we had great conversations during the session. I’m already looking forward to a second tattoo with him. I would recommend Bluu and Fattys to anyone looking for a great artist and tattoo shop in the DMV!

Got my first tattoo yesterday with Bluu at Fatty’s and I must say I’m really in love with the end result. The space was really clean and sanitized well and Bluu’s playlist was fire!! I’m a pretty awkward person but I even found myself having some really cool conversations with him. The experience was a good one overall that left me with absolutely no trauma whatsoever lol. 10/10 would do again.

Josh was an amazing tattoo artist who exceeded my expectations. This was my first tattoo, so I was extremely nervous, but Josh answered all my questions and made sure I understood the entire process. He offered helpful suggestions for my tattoo style while still staying true to my original vision. I’ll definitely be coming back to Josh for another tattoo!
