Such an amazing experience getting my daughter’s ears pierced! The shop was very clean and welcoming, and Kate made her comfortable throughout the process. They explained everything clearly, worked quickly and professionally, and the piercings turned out perfect. My daughter left smiling and so impressed with the care and attention to detail. Highly recommended!!!

This is our second visit to see Amanda for a piercing. She is just wonderful and makes you feel at ease. The best part is how warm/ cozy but totally clean and sterile everything is. If you need a piercing there's no one else in the greater Pittsburgh area I'd recommend more!

MEDUSA PIERCING! with piercings, you should absolutely be picky about who you're trusting. Amanda provided me with SO much knowledge whenever I consulted about a medusa/philtrum piercing. Made sure I thought things through and slept on it before making a final decision which is extremely important! The day of the piercing I was able to answer any final questions, and she took her time to make sure placement was perfect for my anatomy, while still discussing the "why" behind everything she was doing. I was completely comfortable, and even before the piercing she let me know what to expect. Everything turned out PERFECT and I couldn't be happier with the experience and the trust that I have with my favorite piercer :)

TL;DR: Katie is an amazing piercer and I'm super happy! Long version: After a rough morning with the toddlers at home, and months of debating if I wanted a piercing and which kind, I finally went to get it done. I was on the verge of tears from the morning, and just in a low energy mood. However, Katie was super awesome, talked me through the earring placement, process, what to do after, let me have a moment to think about it when I almost talked myself out of it, and then gave me a "squish toy" to hold during the piercing. When she finally got the go-ahead from me, she got her game face on, sterilized everything, and one-two pricks and I had a new conch piercing. I'm 4 weeks post-piercing, and the back of the earring actually fell out two days ago - which is why I'm finally leaving this review. Because it looks great, is exactly what I wanted, and, it actually healed about 2-3 days after the piercing (minus two kicks and an elbow to the ear by my toddlers throughout the four weeks, which hurt a lot). All in all, I love it, and am debating when to come see Katie again for another one! Thank you, Katie =)

Got my septum pierced as a walk in kinda last minute and they were so kind and accommodating even though I’m a big baby! They did the piercing fabulously and really were well educated. Definitely will be a returning customer.

By far the best in the South Hills! Very clean and such a fun atmosphere! Everyone on the team is exceptional from start to finish. I could go on and on but just go you won’t regret it

Alter Ego is an absolute gem. Every experience I’ve had here has been nothing short of amazing. Jess is the one who tattoos me. Amanda and Kate have pierced me, my daughter and A LOT of our friends. Everyone is incredibly talented, professional, and genuinely kind humans. They make you feel comfortable, seen, and celebrated whether you’re getting a piercing or a new piece of ink. The vibe in the shop is creative, welcoming and full of good energy. You can tell that all the artists here truly care about their craft and the people they’re working with. I’m always blown away by the quality of the work and the level of care that goes into every detail. If you’re looking for a studio that feels like both an art space and a safe haven, Alter Ego is it.
