Happy Tattoo

On our way back to Texas, my girlfriend and I decided to walk into Happy Tattoo on a whim — and it turned into one of the best decisions of our trip. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by Chris Partain (artist and owner), whose energy and kindness set the tone immediately. Chris didn’t just squeeze us in — he welcomed us in. He took his time carefully crafting our stencils, making sure every detail felt right, and never once rushed the process. The tattoos themselves took less than an hour between the two of us, but we spent nearly three hours talking, laughing, and sharing stories with him. By the end, it didn’t feel like a tattoo appointment — it felt like making a new friend. When the work was done, Chris gave us both a hug, and it was clear the connection was genuine. The shop itself deserves mention, too. It’s hands-down the most comfortable, tastefully decorated tattoo space I’ve ever been in. Clean, inviting, and full of character — you immediately feel at ease walking through the door. And when it came time to settle up, the pricing was more than fair — almost shocking given the level of care, attention, and time Chris gave us. If you’re in Albuquerque and thinking about getting tattooed, do yourself a favor and stop here. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Happy Tattoo is more than a shop — it’s an experience. Chris is an incredible artist, but more importantly, he’s an incredible human being.

I don't even know where to start. I came in from California, my mother from Arizona. My sister from Texas, celebrating our mother's 70th year of life. And also a new 7th year generation baby showerbaby. My mother never knew she was gonna get a tattoo. That was the wild factor! My sister and I was not sure if she would actually go through with it..But once we came into the shop, 🫡which is so beautiful, Historical well done, artsy everything you want from a experienced Tattoo Polar. The vibe made my mother more at ease, to say 'yes to the tattoo." 🥰🥰 Chris was amazing so welcoming. He treated my mom with so much care. He has a characteristic that goes beyond your everyday "customer service run of the mill"!!! this was the nicest experience ive ever had at a tattoo shop. the inside decor is beautiful, the vibe is so calming and it sucked out all the anxieties i had before arriving. chris is experienced and does beautiful work on top of making the tattoo as painless as possible while keeping it quick. it is so easy to relax in the chair.

Chris “dainty” Partain is one of a kind! We had a great time collaborating, the vibe was fun and relaxed, no pretense. I love my tattoo and will be back!

Happy tattoo is my happy place! Chris is an absolute wizard of an artist and provides great service with great care and hospitality. He did this cardinal piece for me and leveled it up beyond any of the reference pictures I showed him. Would highly recommend here for all your tattooing needs.
