--- type: state_ranking name: "The 10 best tattoo shops in New Jersey" state: "New Jersey" abbr: "NJ" shops: 10 eligible: 63 url: https://www.localtattoos.com/new-jersey/best-tattoo-shops/ --- # The 10 best tattoo shops in New Jersey 63 shops in New Jersey carry at least 25 Google reviews and qualify; these are the top 10. ## How this is ranked Shops are ordered by a Bayesian-adjusted rating: (n × rating + 320 × 4.79) ÷ (n + 320), where n is the shop's Google review count, 320 is the median review count across the directory and 4.79 is the directory-wide mean rating. Only shops with at least 25 reviews qualify; ties go to the shop with more reviews. Ordering is computed at build time from two facts per shop — its Google rating and its Google review count. One listing per street address, and nobody paid for a position. ## The ranking | # | Shop | City | Rating | Reviews | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | 1 | [7 Souls Tattoo & Body Piercing](https://www.localtattoos.com/new-jersey/ramsey/7-souls-tattoo-body-piercing.md) | Ramsey | 5.0 | 1,500 | | 2 | [Painted Soul Arts](https://www.localtattoos.com/new-jersey/montclair/painted-soul-arts.md) | Montclair | 5.0 | 381 | | 3 | [Alpha Ink Studio](https://www.localtattoos.com/new-jersey/hamilton-township/alpha-ink-studio.md) | Hamilton Township | 5.0 | 343 | | 4 | [Etched in Ink Tattoo](https://www.localtattoos.com/new-jersey/lake-hopatcong/etched-in-ink-tattoo.md) | Lake Hopatcong | 5.0 | 323 | | 5 | [7 Souls Tattoo and Body Piercing](https://www.localtattoos.com/new-jersey/fair-lawn/7-souls-tattoo-and-body-piercing.md) | Fair Lawn | 4.9 | 2,200 | | 6 | [7 Souls Tattoo & Body Piercing](https://www.localtattoos.com/new-jersey/jersey-city/7-souls-tattoo-body-piercing.md) | Jersey City | 4.9 | 1,900 | | 7 | [Hudson Tattoo Co.](https://www.localtattoos.com/new-jersey/guttenberg/hudson-tattoo-co.md) | Guttenberg | 4.9 | 1,700 | | 8 | [First Class Studios](https://www.localtattoos.com/new-jersey/dover/first-class-studios.md) | Dover | 5.0 | 220 | | 9 | [Anarchy 16 Tattoo Studio](https://www.localtattoos.com/new-jersey/guttenberg/anarchy-16-tattoo-studio.md) | Guttenberg | 4.9 | 1,100 | | 10 | [7 Souls Tattoo and Body Piercing Studio](https://www.localtattoos.com/new-jersey/englewood/7-souls-tattoo-and-body-piercing-studio.md) | Englewood | 4.9 | 1,000 | ### 1.
