--- type: state_ranking name: "The 10 best tattoo shops in Maine" state: "Maine" abbr: "ME" shops: 10 eligible: 10 url: https://www.localtattoos.com/maine/best-tattoo-shops/ --- # The 10 best tattoo shops in Maine 10 shops in Maine carry at least 25 Google reviews and qualify; these are the top 10. ## How this is ranked Shops are ordered by a Bayesian-adjusted rating: (n × rating + 320 × 4.79) ÷ (n + 320), where n is the shop's Google review count, 320 is the median review count across the directory and 4.79 is the directory-wide mean rating. Only shops with at least 25 reviews qualify; ties go to the shop with more reviews. Ordering is computed at build time from two facts per shop — its Google rating and its Google review count. One listing per street address, and nobody paid for a position. ## The ranking | # | Shop | City | Rating | Reviews | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | 1 | [Brass & Briar Studios](https://www.localtattoos.com/maine/portland/brass-briar-studios.md) | Portland | 5.0 | 743 | | 2 | [North Coast Tattoo Company](https://www.localtattoos.com/maine/scarborough/north-coast-tattoo-company.md) | Scarborough | 5.0 | 257 | | 3 | [Cosmic Sea Tattoo](https://www.localtattoos.com/maine/portland/cosmic-sea-tattoo.md) | Portland | 5.0 | 201 | | 4 | [Mad Hatter's Tattoo Studio](https://www.localtattoos.com/maine/old-orchard-beach/mad-hatter-s-tattoo-studio.md) | Old Orchard Beach | 4.9 | 672 | | 5 | [Diversified Ink Tattoo Studio](https://www.localtattoos.com/maine/bangor/diversified-ink-tattoo-studio.md) | Bangor | 4.8 | 589 | | 6 | [Dark Harbor Tattoo](https://www.localtattoos.com/maine/portland/dark-harbor-tattoo.md) | Portland | 4.8 | 392 | | 7 | [Venom Ink Tattoo](https://www.localtattoos.com/maine/sanford/venom-ink-tattoo.md) | Sanford | 4.7 | 223 | | 8 | [Good & Evil Tattoo](https://www.localtattoos.com/maine/old-orchard-beach/good-evil-tattoo.md) | Old Orchard Beach | 4.7 | 280 | | 9 | [Almost Famous Tattoo & Piercings](https://www.localtattoos.com/maine/portland/almost-famous-tattoo-piercings.md) | Portland | 4.5 | 221 | | 10 | [Maine Ink](https://www.localtattoos.com/maine/old-orchard-beach/maine-ink.md) | Old Orchard Beach | 4.5 | 394 | ### 1.
